The first meeting of the 1963-64 season was held on October 15h 1963 at the Cathay House with President Ian Paterson presiding.
The speaker for the evening program was Mr. T.W. McLorg, the executive Secretary of the Canadian Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Association. His topic was “Controlled Environment in Schools”.
During November’s meeting it was noted that Society was well short of its goal for contributions to the new engineering building fund, President Ian Paterson reminded members of the importance of this building and that members reconsider their individual donations. The speaker for the evening was Mr. T. G. Gerendas, Associate Director of Applications of Frigistors Limited, Montreal. His topic was “Thermo Electric Cooling”.
January’s guest speaker was Mr. J.L. Biddell, a member of the Trustees and Charter Accountant firm in Toronto, Clarkson Company. His Topic was “Bankruptcy Act and Mechanics lien Act”.
During February’s meeting it was noted that the Local Curling Bonspiel was a success at the Hunt Club. The speaker for the evening was Mr. R.T. (Bob) Tamblyn. His topic was “Air Conditioning of Schools”.
The speaker for the March meeting was Mr. Phillips, research Biologist, Dept. Agriculture Ottawa. His topic was “Controlling the Atmosphere for Storage of Fruit and Vegetables”.
At April’s meeting the nominating committee presented the proposed slate of officers for the 1964-65 year. The speaker for the evening program was Mr. B. Bodrophy, Assistant Manager of L’Air Liquide in Montreal. His topic was “The Impact of Cryogenics on Today’s Industry”.
At May’s meeting the following slate of Officers were elected in by the members:
President - D. McKeen
Vice-President - G. Goodkey
Secretary - A. Oakes
Treasurer - John Kennedy
Board of Governors - J. Bowie, G. Carscallen, & Bob McPherson
President I. Paterson thanked the various committees and executive for their help and turned the gavel over to the incoming president D. McKeen. President Don McKeen then presented past president Ian Paterson with a certificate of appreciation and the past president's pin. The end of the meeting was followed by the colored film of the 1963 Grey Cup Game.
