The Chapter Meetings continued at the Cathay House through this Chapter year.
October's meeting was special because it celebrated the Chapter's 25th Anniversary. There were a number of special guests including John Fox (Past President ASHRAE International), John Ross ("Mr. ASHRAE Canada"), George Menzies (Regional Chairman II), Bernard "Bunny" Stotesbury (1st OVC President), Bill Hale (Past President ASHRAE International), and 22 Charter Members or Past Presidents. A new Charter to replace the original was presented by John Fox (Board Representative of Society when original charter was created in 1952).
November's meeting was preceeded by a visit to the National Research Council's Central Heating Plant, which was well attended by students. The evening topic was "State of the Art for Central Control for Building Systems" with speaker George Lafreniere of Honeywell Ottawa.
January's program was a panel discussion on "Master Specifications as Established by the Government of Canada". Speakers were Ivan Lavender and John Gill of Public Works, Phil Harris of Irving Contracting, and Tony Vodsedalek of Ottawa Mechanical Services. Moderator was Simon Jol.
In February the topic was "Heat Recovery" with speaker Michael Ruch of Q-Dot Corporation.
The March topic was "Control of Noise and Vibration from Mechanical Equipment" and the speaker was Dr. Thomas Northwood of the National Research Council.
A guest panel chaired by Nick Zrymiak provided the entertainment in April, the subject was "Solar Update", and the speakers were John Beckolay of Clemann, Large Patterson; Don Hampton of Public Works; and Steve Harrison of the National Research Council.
May's meeting topic was "Metric Conversion" with speaker Frank Dugal of Industries Plans Metric Commission Canada. Jim Black turned over the gavel to Bob McKee who presented him with the usual Silver Tray, and Grant Wilson presented Jim with the Award of Appreciation from Society and a Past Presidents Pin.
